This one is for you David!

David M. Gratta and the Consul General of Italy in Miami

Our lives met in August 2003 through exchanging e-mails. Our contact grew for social to caring. You live in the States, I live in Greece. Gradually we found out about our mutual interests and began to share inner felt thoughts and real life situations ever since. In August 2005 we met in person in Italy and spent 9 unforgettable days together, getting to know more of Magna Grecia and perhaps ourselves through the interaction. The care and thoughtfullness has never stopped between us.

Last night I received a parcel from the U.S. Mail. It was from you, David. I opened it up and found out that you had sent me an antique book of 1868! It was Demosthenis' The Phillipics in an Oxford publication. I began turning the pages, unfolding a piece of history through the text keeping in mind to handle it with care.

I was so touched by your gesture! You have provided me with a legacy and above all your dear thoughts in this very book! Instead of replying to you via e-mail, I have chosen to let the world know about this. David, you are a special person that has given me the incentive to become a better person in my life and I thank you for it.
You deserve to be appreciated and loved for all that you are in the course of your life.

I thank you for being one of my closest friends, through good and bad times and I hope I am proven worthy of your friendship, although there are times I feel I don't deserve that.

Your comments are so touching dear Montressor and Lucy, I just don't know how to handle the emotion right now! It's not easy to speak about matters of my heart. Thank you for the kind thoughts, M. ;-}
